Alexander James Crane

Alexander (Alex) is a native of Colorado and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Biology. Alex enjoys playing guitar and basketball. Alex’s work in the lab has focused on characterizing signatures and functional sequelae of structural variants in pediatric brain cancers and across all cancers.

Favorite food: Quesadillas and ravioli.

John Jeang

Born and raised in Rockville, MD, John studied Physics at Harvey Mudd College.  Before coming to the Broad, John worked as a High Frequency Trader but has since made a big switch to Computation Biology.  He is motivated to make the world a better place through his research in Pediatric Low Grade Gliomas.

Fun Fact: John thinks berries are overrated. They are nutritionally sparse given their price.

Laura Urbanski

Laura received her BA from the College of the Holy Cross. After graduating, she worked in the Beroukhim Lab as a technician for two years, primarily focused on CYCLOPS vulnerabilities in breast cancers and leukemias. Laura left the Beroukhim lab to become an MD-PhD student at the University of Connecticut.

Elizabeth (Eli) Gonzalez

Eli majored in molecular and cell biology at the University of Pennsylvania and is originally from Miami, Fla. She aspires to be a physician scientist and join the efforts to discover better treatments for rare pediatric cancers. As a research assistant in the Bandopadhayay and Beroukhim Labs, Eli studied new therapeutic strategies for pediatric brain tumors. She is also interested in science diplomacy, particularly collaborations on cancer research between the US and Cuba. Eli is now studying for an MD-PhD at the University of Pennsylvania.

Fun facts: Eli loves to snorkel, and her favorite animal is a yellowtail damselfish.
